If I could choose anything for my corpse, I would most like it to be tied to a tall, tall tree, as high up as possible, and left there to be eaten by birds. But I'll settle for cremation.
I would like to be burned up, wearing my necklace of three striped seashells I found on the beach at Fort Warden State Park, in Port Townsend, WA, and the ring my mother gave me - four blue sapphires that look black set in a thin, gold band. Once I'm ashes and teeth, I'd like to be divided into four portions.
I would like someone from my family to take one of my portions, and scatter me over a desert - any desert.
I'd like someone from the punk community I've been a part of, off and on, since my teenage years, to take one of my portions, and build a fire over it, anywhere outside.
I'd like someone from one of the healing communities I've been a part of to take one of my ash portions, and scatter it into any body of brine that is part of the system of oceans.
I'd like someone from one of the creative communities I've been a part of to take one of my ash portions up a tall, tall tree on a windy, windy day, and let them loose into the moving air.
