Advice to Rebecca, age 12.
1. You should continue to hang out with your father on Sundays even though you can't stand him. When he asks you to go to the Boston Pops with Uncle David's tickets, don't be a brat - go! You will never have the chance again and when Uncle David later dies of AIDS, you will regret turning down his generosity.
2. Don't let Michael C. antagonize you. He is not really your friend, and you should stop hanging out with him.
3. When Nathan throws a shoe at your head from the top of the stair, don't throw it back. Also, don't stab him in the back with the end of a spoon or a graphite pencil.
4. Don't smash Aiden in the face.
5. Don't listen to the priest's eldest son, Peter, when he tells you have no rhythm and that you should quit playing guitar.
6. Don't cheat on Josh with Chris M., even if it is just kissing. Josh will not speak to you for at least two years.
