Advice to Beth Williams at 19:
1.) Don't apply to the college your boyfriend goes to. They don't have the program you want and you'll just break up first semester anyway.
2.) Try not to date Jared, the guy you met at the club who had the condom in his pocket. He isn't looking for friendship.
3.) If you do decide to date him, don't talk to Jared on the phone for three hours, long distance. You won't be able to pay the bill and will have to call your mom, crying, to ask for the money. It will be humiliating.
4.) When you find a list of women's names on Jared's nightstand with sexual details and dates, do not believe him when he explains those are the dates and circumstances under which these women "hurt his feelings."
5.) When Jared threatens to kill himself after you say you want to break up with him, get help.
6.) Respect yourself enough to know that Jared is a loser, you deserve better, and being smart and prepared is more important than having a boyfriend.
Don't drink so much whiskey.
