Advice to me when I was 14:
1. Your father will die when you are 24 years old. You have 10 years left together-- reevaluate what is important. Ask him questions, love your family and recognize them as blessings. Appreciate their gifts, strengths and weaknesses. You'll be so much happier.
2. Don't be in such a rush to quit ballet. Seriously, you might think you're missing out on other things, but this is much better than school dances and awkward telephone conversations.
3. Don't start smoking. Idiot.
4. Please, accept the help your parents are offering. If you don't, you will wear the regret on your arms (and everywhere else) and you will waste the next 6 years of your life being miserable because you can't solve everyone elses troubles.
5. Remember that everything changes, sometimes for the better. Let that comfort you.
