Advice to Ellie Daniel Aged 16-19
1. Richard is not your best friend, do not waste your time there, he just fancies you and will drop you like a stone once you get a boyfriend.
2. Do not agree to sing at the Chinese farewell party. There will be a power cut, it will go wrong and you will get stage fright from then on.
3. Start singing lessons earlier.
4. Don't be nervous at your audition for your drama course at university. Be friendly and work well with the other people - you will get in.
5. Travel for longer, yes you will miss your boyfriend but you're going to break up eventually and you'll regret missing your chance to travel.
6. Don't waste your time on that crush on Pete - he's leaving the country.
7. The second time John breaks up with you - don't take him back. You are delaying the inevitable and it'll hurt more in the end.
8. Don't even think about going out with Sam, he will tell the entire department you've slept together when you'd only kissed, you will get a bad reputation and this will only serve to make you more wary of guys in future.
9. DO NOT make friends with the guy from upstairs. He will try to take advantage of you and this will be the scariest night of your life. Leave him well alone.
10. Do not do biology a-level. Yes it is interesting but you'll get a C where you could have had an A in the essay-based subjects.
11. Do not try to be friends when you first break up with John. It won't work, he gets a new girlfriend straight away and will use that to hurt you. Cut off all contact until you're happy in yourself.
12. Get a copy of the student film you are in straight away - Cameron will move away and you won't have a copy for your portfolio otherwise.
13. Tell John when mark makes a move on you... not only will this protect john from marks actions later on but this will improve trust between the two of you and will stop Beth developing a hopeless crush on mark which will only hurt her in the end.
14. Tell Ruth about Mark... she will be stronger for it.
15. Do not let John know how much he hurts you - he will use this to make you look bad and will relish the power it gives him.
16. Do not let all the regrets about how things failed in your last relationship hold you back from a new one... what happens with Matthew is a good thing - let it in.
17. Don't agree to live with 5 other people in Longsborough avenue - Pete will drop out and you'll be stuck for somewhere to live.
18. Audition for plays in your first year - it will help you make friends with other people on your course and you won't have as much time in your second and third year to do so.
19. Walk your dog more - buy him treats... he will get sick and die earlier than he should and you'll regret the way you behaved.
20. Visit your grandfather every single time you can, you will miss him so much when he's gone.
21. Make more of an effort with "John's friends" from the very beginning - you end up being extremely close with most of them so why bother wasting the time in between.
22. Do not talk to heather at all after you and John break up - she will lie about your encounter and turn john against you.
23. Don't grow up too fast. Enjoy being stupid and making mistakes... after a while you'll realise you think too much about how to do things "right" that you just don't take any risks.
24. Start practising for the gig at Alex's party earlier! Kath will lose her voice the day before the gig and you'll have to sing lead.
