Advice to Lucy Kate aged 17
1. When you are having an argument at 2 in the morning and you've done this at least twice a week for the last three months, it's time to walk away, it's time to go to sleep, it's time to find your dignity.
2. When he says he doesn't love you anymore, don't offer him hot chocolate.
3. Do not forget Jess. She will still be there. Ignore Jim.
4. Have a bit of foresight; this feeling will not last. You will succeed. You needn't worry.
5. GO TO COLLEGE. It may seem inconsequential now, but you'll regret it later if you don't.
6. Neither of those two are worth it. Quit stirring things up between them and walk away from them both.
7. Don't go to parties in Topsham.
8. Don't get your hair cut short at the front. Maybe cut it all off instead.
9. Don't give away that pearl bracelet. You'd like to still have it at twenty.
10. Talk to Helen. You will like each other.
11. Stand up to Jade. Soon she will be nothing.
12. Use nails in your exhibition, not those sticky things. They don't hold.
13. Don't phone anyone when you're in wales.
14. Don't keep bidding on that cigarette holder on ebay. It's only worth 2 quid.
15. Talk to your father. Keep talking. You will be ok.
