Advice to Lauren Elizabeth, ages 15-17
1. Don't talk to Ashley and Tameika. They will start playing a vicious game with you and you won't be able to win. Besides, they aren't going to stick around very long.
2. Rethink your crush on Chris S. There really isn't anything about him that you like!!
3. Don't go over to Tom's house with Dar- you'll regret everything that transpires.
4. Continue to paint and draw and immerse yourself in your art! It seems lonely now, but all the time you spend by yourself will open your eyes to a greater understanding of who you are.
5. Stop telling your Dad that you hate him. You don't mean it and it kills him a little bit inside every time you say it.
6. Give Sharon a chance. She's not Mom, but she has good, honest intentions.
7. Make sure Ivy knows that you value your friendship more so than any stupid, slutty band boy.
8. Avoid any and all run-ins with Aaron that will eventually lead to your first serious heartbreak and subsequent eating disorder.
9. DO NOT dye your hair fuchsia at home!!! You will stain the walls, carpet, towels, your scalp, back, and legs PINK and then you'll spend two consecutive weekends trying to scrub it out with very powerful chemical agents. This will lead to a strong reaction that will last for months.
10. Reconsider getting your tattoo. Don't do it to spite your Dad. In a few years you'll realize that the tattoo doesn't hold any special meaning, it will only serve as a constant reminder of a really scary time in your life.
11. Try harder to talk Mom out of marrying Mike and moving to Washington. Tell her that the forecast isn't looking good and it won't end well.
12. Don't smoke marijuana with Andy. He's not like you and he never will be in that respect. You're only looking for a crutch and he doesn't deserve to be it.
13. Don't go to the party at Jaime's house. Don't drink the rum, or the beer, or the vodka. In fact, stay home. Watch the movie Dad rented and get a good night's rest.
