Advice to Lauren at 18
1. You are already happy and fulfilled. You don't need a boyfriend to validate you especially one who is of poor character.
2. The night Sean asks you to be his girlfriend, simply say "No."
3. Don't wait for Sean to be a better boyfriend, he will never change. Sean will continually disappoint you and give you every reason to leave and call it quits him.
4. The first time he lies to you and/or disappoints you (which he will do on numerous accounts) call him out on it and let him know you will not stand for his BS. You know the truth for yourself. Don't allow him to manipulate situations. He will continue to patronize you as long as you let him.
5. There weren't enough good times to want to stay with this LOSER. He was into games long before you came along. Just listen to Fred for once he knows what he's talking about. BREAK UP & NEVER LOOK BACK!
6. J is not right for you. Sure he's nice looking and has thug appeal, but you two have very little in common and can't base a relationship on physical attraction alone. You know you do better than him. Let is the first date be the last date (you'll really like the Italian restaurant he takes you to).
7. You will find your relationship with Q to be very refreshing during this time. You'll really like the long talk you two have over the phone. You will connect with him better than you have with any other guy. When things start souring and the communication begins to cease realize he's dealing with some issues. These issues will be brought up in conversation. Be supportive as much as he'll allow you to be. He knows you are there and he already knows you care. Accept what is happening. Don't wait for him to magically appear back into your life ready to pick up where you guys left off...let nature take its course.
8. P is just an entertainer remember that. Enjoy it all while it lasts. Don't call him you two have absolutely nothing to talk about. Smile more at C (he really likes you and in the long run you guys will wind up as friends).
