Advice to Kristin, age 14-17 (high school)
1. Throw properly. Don't use all arm just because you're strong now. Eventually you're going to have surgery for a SLAP lesion during the summer which, totally blows.
2. Choose the right friends or at least choose the right activities in which you participate with them in. You'll get suspended and loose your leadership privileges, respect, and good reputation.
3. Tell Jams and Gary as soon as possible you only like them as friends as to not crush their poor little hearts. You can avoid really awkward moments with Garrett and many stressful conversations with Jamie.
4. DO NOT write the answers on your hand for Mrs. Stephan's Biology test. You'll forget you wrote them, raise your hand to ask a question, and get suspended for cheating.
5. Don't take such an aggressive lead at third against Mariposa senior year. You'll dive back wrong, jam your finger, dislocate it, then refuse to get it fixed because you're a pansy, and have a crooked pinky the rest of your life.
6. Even though it's summer school, pay attention in Econ. You won't have to take it two more times in college.
7. Don't dwell on your summer fling freshman year. He's so not worth the tears and self esteem issues, and when he tries to talk to you freshman year of college you can blow him off.
8. Learn to control your temper with coaches and in general. You can prevent having to sit the bench because you mouthed off and give them respect they deserve, which will make you a better player.
9. Branch out. Just because you've had the same group of friends for a long time doesn't mean you can't have others. It will really help your social skills in college and prevent many a boring Friday night.
10. Explore art more. You choose it as a major. So, get a head start.
