Advice to Kassi at age 20
1. Your life is about to take a few dramatic turns. But trust in the strong girl that you know is inside of you, the one that you're dreadfully alone with every single night. Trust me that you will make it out alive. Not only alive, but a hell of a lot stronger.
2. Don't let Christa control you. It will seem like you have no choice and I know you're afraid of being alone. But your life will not get any better until you leave her.
3. Don't be afraid of saying goodbye. When it's over, it's over. Of course it will hurt, but you have to let yourself hurt sometimes.
4. You're going to question yourself and the huge decision you'll make to join the military. Just go with it. It's the right thing to do.
5. When you meet Miles, go with your heart. There isn't and there never will be a way for you to break him down and it will never ever make sense. So just enjoy it. Even when it comes time to leave the country, DO NOT freak out. DON'T drink yourself into stupidity every night for a month. Be happy. You're leaving that horrible place.
6. Don't fall in love with David. It will be wonderful and amazing for one week, and then the consequences will nearly kill you. Because Miles still loves you sweetheart. Don't hurt him like that. Please..
7. Don't feel the need to inform Miles of any tiny thing that you feel bad about. Honesty is good and noble, but not always needed.
8. There will be one fateful night involving ecstasy, Nate, Miles, and a video. Bad bad bad. Go to sleep. Say goodnight. Watch football instead.
9. And tell your family that you love them and how much you appreciate all that they do. Someday you will miss their company.
