Advice to myself at age 18:
1.Hug Sophia and tell her that you love her, even though you can't be in love with her. Recognize the pain that she's going through and don't think her telling her family that you're gay is a personal attack; it's her way of dealing with things.
2.Don't write that email to Sophia after you go to college.
3.When you wake up on Christmas with Sophia crying over your bed, say something. Or at least call her later and talk about it. You have a tendency to just let things be for lack of knowing what to do about it. Stop that! Learn to confront people even if you're not sure what to say.
4.Transfer colleges as soon as you can and study something that allows you to be creative, even if it is impractical and random. It'll be worth it in the long run (oh, and try to go somewhere that isn't 30,000 dollars a year).
5.Go see a psychiatrist. You have ADHD and the sooner you realize it, the less messy your life will be in 5 years.
6. Ask your older relatives lots of questions about their past and the times they lived through. They contain a wealth of information that will soon be gone. Aunt Binnie and Uncle Roger will both die within the next few years...
7.Don't be so afraid to come out to your parents. They love you.
