Advice to Rebecca Jane aged 23...
1. IF you want to be able to get a job after uni, take political economy, even though it seems really boring.
2. But DON'T do that East Asian Politics subject. Drop it now, while you still can. It's boring as hell, you'll take nothing significant from it and the lecturer is a self-important princess.
3. Jens is a bad man and it's right to be a bit scared of him - MOVE OUT!
4. This one is really important: Don't sleep with that loser, DON'T DO IT. Because it won't make him want you less, it will only live in your heart as your one big regret in life and he'll always be an arsehole so get over it and END THE FRIENDSHIP NOW. He's a dick and you're worth so, so much more than this and you are really great. Lots of people love you, just not him. And anyway, he's bad in bed. Bad. No, really, he's bad!
5. (Have a fling instead. A really good one.)
6. Continue going out to dinner and going dancing and drinking champagne and eating cake and sitting in cafes and laughing. Don't stop any of that. Ever.
7. But pay less for hair cuts. There are great places that are cheaper and ultimately, it really doesn't matter that much!
8. See more live music. Lots more.
9. It's ok to cry, young lady. It's ok to feel sad. In fact, listen to some sad songs now. Sometimes, life's just a bitch and that's simply the way it is. Deal. Don't wait so long to feel things again because it's a really beautiful thing.
10. Start playing Scrabble so you'll be better at it in a few years when it really counts.
