Advice to Emily, age 19:
1. Understand that you are not stuck in Santa Barbara because you are being punished by some external force. You are stuck there because you are too lazy to move.
2. Your parents love you but they do not always give you good advice.
3. You should not hang out with crack dealers. They are not good people.
4. Enjoy your yard. It will be a long time before you get a yard that cool again.
5. Amy is hell-bent on self destruction. There is not anything you can do to stop this. Even if her choices are shitty, she still has a right to make them for herself.
6. Do not let Hank and Dan destroy your confidence in your ability to make good art.
7. When people tell you that leaving Santa Barbara will not solve all your problems, they are wrong.
