Advice to Gustavo at age nineteen.
1. Do not be too shy and embarrassed of your accent, talk to people. People actually like accents.
2. When people ask you for your first name, they do not mean your actual first name. They mean what they should call you, tell them your middle name, the one you have been used thus far, it's OK.
3. Be aware of your feelings, putting them in a drawer somewhere, will only prolong you confusion.
4. Embrace who you are, you are a as valuable as the next person, no matter what.
5. Make friends at college sooner, do not wait until your last year. You'll be happier that way.
6. Enjoy yourself a little more, do not try to be the perfect middle child; messing up every once in a while if fun and necessary.
