Advice to Catherine Forrester, aged 17.
1. Go to the doctor; you're on the wrong medication and it's easy to fix. If you aren't so tired all the time you will be able to do a lot more.
2. Please go out and see your friends. It is harder than staying in but it's worth it. You are not as different to them as you think.
3. Please don't fall for the boy in America. You will continue the relationship long after it has ceased to give you any pleasure because you don't want people to think you're stupid, and this will mean a lot of people getting hurt.
4. Don't worry about your exams. You will do well, and even if you don't, the university you eventually choose will only require you to have BB grades.
5. Please go to talk to the counsellor sooner about June, and about being sick, and about being so sad. And when you have seen her, follow her advice.
