Advice to Jenny EB at age 16
- Take the face off of your car stereo EVERY time you leave the car. Even if it is only for a short period of time, car radio thieves are good at what they do and can do it fast.
- History class is very boring but it is important to pass. Read fifteen pages in your history book each night to guarantee a passing grade.
- When you are tipsy at a party, do not ask a boy to "take a walk" with you unless you want something physical to happen. While you might enjoy the stars, the sound of the leaves on the ground and the crisp fall air with the company of a boy you have a crush on, most teenage boys don't think that deeply.
- Stop talking to S.A.Z. He is an immature, manipulative pompous jerk who likes to make you look foolish. In the end, nothing will come out of it except for years of you feeling insecure, silly and having trust issues with men. Instead, stay with J.M.G. He is a sweet boy who respects you and will treat you well.
- Do not trust every person you talk to. While they seem very sincere, you are too deep for them and they do not understand you. They may not mean to tell your deepest, darkest secrets to the entire study hall but they do anyway.
- If you are in the woods, drunk and have to go to the bathroom, make sure you bring a girlfriend with you so you don't pee on your pants. It will cause a lot of embarassment when you return to school on Monday.
- Learn to parallel park. While you may feel silly not doing it well, you will look even sillier when you turn 28 years old and you can't do it.
- It is okay if you do not want to be friends with the popular kids. When high school is over and you are in college, you will look back at those years and realize that there were some pretty cool people you didn't give a chance to back then. And where are all of those popular kids now?
- Enjoy afternoons and evenings at your part time job and being with your friends. That time of leisure is hard to come by once you have a real job as an adult.
- Savor the days of spending aimless amounts of times at your best friend's house. Those days of just "hanging out" become very difficult as you age and life takes its course.
- Don't stop talking to Tiara. You will soon realize that she is the greatest, most loyal friend you will ever have.
