Advice given to Kirstie Douglass (at varioius ages):
Age 10: Believe in yourself and your dreams. You are the most real you will ever be at this age -- don't lose yourself, especially when you become a teenager and find yourself extremely depressed and self-conscious. Hold on to yourself, you're in for a ride.
Age 17: Don't go to the party at J's house. Sometimes it is better to miss out on "fun."
Age 22: Don't do what other people tell you to do; no matter how much they try and bully you. When you make a decision not to go through with the wedding, you should listen to yourself and speak up! Be careful who you breed with, you will be stuck with them the rest of your life (even though you have the greatest children ever!).
Age 25: Don't push yourself too hard. You don't have to be perfect. Don't work two jobs, you sacrifice too much.
Age 27: Don't let your friend T talk you into going out so much; but do enjoy the creativity she brings back into your life (even though she is pretentious). Watch out! -- she is looking for a lackey.
Age 30: Don't let M rule your life. He will hurt your family. Stop after he breaks up with you the first time (p.s. - he breaks up with you a total of eight times and he sleeps with a whore during his motorcycle tour of Vietnam while you stay home and take care of his dog and his ailing mother). Looks like a nice guy, but is not.
Age 32: Enjoy everything about going back to college at your age. It will be a great time!
