Advice to Erin Day, Age 9.
- Express that discomfort.
- Feel the fuck out of everything.
- Don't be afraid to ask questions.
- If you have to be smoking to enjoy someone's company, stop hanging out.
- Embrace the space.
- Eat three well-balanced meals a day as often as possible.
- Don't let your hostility towards your mother prevent you from excelling in school.
- Realize that though you are hostile towards your mother, she is the strongest, most hardworking person you know; that what she has done for you drastically outweighs some terrible circumstances you were put under (which are maybe more accurately blamed on the combined force of society, capitalism, and women's magazines - oh, and the domino affect of sexual misconduct through the ages).
- Never "ever."
- Recognize the value of each decision, direction; fearing neither.
- You have everything you need, right (t)here.
