1-No one remembered you puking in Miss Clancy's classroom the other day. Don't feel embarrassed to go back to class.
2-If you keep insisting on wearing your sweat suit on 90 degree days, you're only going to pass out from heat exhaustion. It is okay to show off your shoulders.
3-Try sharing your toys with friends more often.
To Danica, Age 6:
4-It is totally okay for kids your age to pee their pants. Don't feel bad, sometimes the bathrooms really are too far away.
To Danica, Age 8:
5-Don't use the word "fuck" in front of Mom; she will slap you six ways 'til Sunday.
To Danica, Age 11:
6-Don't let your friends figure out how Dad's magic tricks work. It will hurt his feelings and he is only trying to make your birthday special.
7-Don't make fun of the people you think might be gay. You're in for a surprise when you're older.
To Danica, Age 13:
8-Don't run away from home. Your parents love you more than you understand.
9-Don't dye your hair blonde. You'll lose all of it in the process and end up with short hair.
10-Don't go to private school; you'll only get kicked out a semester later.
To Danica, Age 16:
11-Keep making art. Eventually you'll get paid to make art, even though your counselors all tell you there is no career in the arts.
12-Stop running away! Mom and Dad will take away your driver's license until you're 17 if you do!
13-Work hard and save all your money. You'll need it later.
To Danica, Age 17:
14-Stop dating older men. They don't like YOU, they like your vagina, and they're all creeps for liking underage girls.
15-Don't even think about going to the hotel room those guys invite you to. You'll regret that decision forever.
To Danica, Age 18:
16-Change your major to Fine Art.
17-Keep your job. Dad will take away your car if you can't pay for it.
18-Keep riding horses; you'll regret quitting later.
19-Laugh more.
20-Lay in the sunshine more.
