Advice to Ching Chan at 7 through 8 years old:
1) Tell Bok you love her before you leave for Washington, D.C. cause it might be the last time you can tell her that or the last time she'll remember anyway. Better yet, see if you can bring her with you, great uncle will be very mean to her.
2) Beg Daddy to leave with you. Don't let him stop you with his frowns. If you have to, cry and make a scene, that ought to push him to take action.
3) Tell Mommy to take ALL of the money we got from the old house to D.C. You will need that money in the future, don't be so generous to give it to Daddy to do his business. He's going to end up losing all of it.
4) MAKE SURE Mommy keeps an eye on the new house in HK. Daddy will end up selling it without telling us about it. So have Ms. Wu to take care of the deed and stuff so Daddy can't do anything stupid.
5) When you get to D.C., disregard ALL the bad things they say about you or Daddy. These people just like to gossip, they're not your enemies, don't hate them. They will end up being on your side. Don't let their words get to you and make you cry.
6) Suggest to Mommy that she should open up her own restaurant in Chinatown. Uncle and aunt will take advantage of her later on down the road. Mommy will end up leaving the restaurant sooner or later, if she had a restaurant of her own, she wouldn't get the idea of moving over to Seattle.
7) Remember Richard? Yea, you hardly know him now and you don't really like him. But this guy's gonna turn out to be the love of your life later on. Don't be afraid to take the chance to get to know him and his personality. Be friends with him now and maybe you can prevent the awkwardness between you guys that took place for nearly 4 years later on.
8) Whatever you do, whatever friends you make, don't EVER abandone your sister and brother. They are the closest people to you, they've been there for you since day one and they'll always be there even up to this day. They love you very much and you should spend more time with them and don't get mad at them so easily.
9) Mommy will start having body aches in like 10 years, so tell her to start taking her calcium early. Make sure she gets enough exercise now so she can be healthier in the long run. Don't let her attempt those jobs with long hours of standing, it'll be very painful for her.
