Advice for Candy C, age 13, as you enter high school
1. Put yourself first. If you love and respect yourself, others will follow. If they don't, you don't want them in your life.
2. Spend more time with your friends. Tim is a fun boyfriend, but you're gonna feel like a fool when you break up because he cheated on you and you hardly have any friends left to cry to.
3. Keep a journal.
4. Go to the library every day after school to study. You will not be able to concentrate on your homework at home, as the tv is too distracting.
5. Get involved in theater productions.
6. Save 10% of each paycheck from the doughnut shop.
7. Be nicer to your parents. They are doing the best they can.
8. Get to know the kids you think are interesting, but are outside of your circle. Make time for themÑthey could be the greatest friends ever.
9. Your job is to learn. Put in 8 hours a day.
