10 words of advice to Keith Bumstead aged 17 to 21
1. When you argue with Camilla in the pub in Stockbridge about moving to Manchester, and you walk out. Keep on walking! Don't move to Manchester, only the worst things will happen there and if you stay at home, you might end up being friends - it's better than not having each other at all, ever again.
2. Don't move in with Caroline Molesworth, she's a good friend, but a terrible flat mate and you'll end up hating each other because of it.
3. Don't take magic mushrooms and ecstasy. It's going to be an exciting time, full of wonderment and journeys - but once you stop you'll suffer for it. A piece of you will go and you'll never be the same - you'll miss your old self.
4. Don't have sex with Amanda Pullman - it's going to be a great night, but she's a nasty piece of work.
5. Don't throw away all your old journals, when you're older you'll regret that you don't have anything to go back to and look through. Keep up with the journals, they were good.
6. Well done for making so many friends and getting out so much - try to keep some of those relationships up, don't let them just fade away. Take a few phone numbers of people you met at parties and ring them up.
7. Don't be so up tight when you go back to university for the second year. Try to make friends with Ray Downing, he was a really nice guy and would've been a greater influence on your life than Daffyd Meredith.
8. Try harder when you ask Sarah Jones out, she was a really good girlfriend, but she could've have been so much better for you if you had put more into the relationship. She deserves much more.
9. Forgive Anita Taft for what she did to you. Spend more time with her, get to know her better, she is a very complicated person. She'll kill herself the day after your eighteenth birthday party, and you'll be devastated.
10. Tell Rosie Beale that you love her. She may still have gone to South America anyway, but she wouldn't have gone with a broken heart because she loved you so much.
