Dear brian (age 10)
1. That girl that has a crush on you is going to go away and then you will realize that you like her. When she returns she won't like you anymore and you are going to feel loss for the first time. Don't avoid this. You need to know what it means to lose something. Instead of feeling self-pity maybe you could try learning something.
Dear brian (age 13)
2. Don't take your anger out on others. It will only scar you.
Dear brian (age 24)
3. The job that you are starting now that you think is temporary is going to last you at least another seven years. You might want to think about your alternatives.
~ your friend, brian (age 31)
To Tami at age 5:
4. Don't be afraid to tell someone you have to use the bathroom. It will be less humiliating than wetting your pants and having to wear borrowed corduroys home.
To Tami at age 8:
5. Don't wear your shirt inside out to that birthday party. Alicia is not the friend you think she is. Nobody else will be wearing their shirts inside out.
