Advice to Brittany, age 5:
1. Be careful on that radiator...tripping on it may leave a scar on your knee for forever.
Advice to Brittany, age 7:
2. Stop chasing Marshall around the playground and give up already. It's not ever working out, I promise.
Advice to Brittany, age 8:
3. You and Adam will not get married. Even if you both go to Virginia Tech; which neither of you will end up doing. And you're not in love either.
Advice to Brittany, age 10:
4. Be nicer to your brother. He turns out to be a pretty cool guy.
Advice to Brittany, age 12:
5. Enough with the "I'm not southern, I'm from Maryland" argument. No one cares; growing up in Virginia is not as bad as it seems.
6. Please be nicer to mom and dad. They're not as embarassing as you think.
Advice to Brittany, age 13:
7. Prepare for the awkward stage. No one is looking at you as much as you think. The so-called "popular kids" will never be as cool as they think they are, and they will still think they're popular even beyond high school. Most of them will not even go to college.
Advice to Brittany, age 14:
8. Give up on Matthew and Allen. One is actually pretty cool, the other is a skeezball. Learn the difference.
Advice to Brittany, age 15:
9. Don't, don't, DON'T talk to Allen on instant messenger. Avoiding this will save a lot of drama in the coming years.
10. Brandon is gross. He is not cute, I don't care if he seemed so online. He is just looking for a hook-up. He does not care that he is your first kiss. He is awful at life.
11. When you start to develop high fevers and other weird symptoms this summer, go to Duke University hospital, and tell the doctors not to bother testing you for any disease but juvenile arhritis.
Advice to Brittany, age 16:
12. Be more appreciative to everyone who helped you get through this summer, especially Mom and Dad.
13. Remember that you won't always be on so many medications, it'll be over sometime.
14. Avoid Matt. Please. Or, if you decide to talk to him, do not get attached. He'll decide he doesn't like you after three weeks. Accept this and move on. Do not converse, or anything else for that matter, with him after this time. It is a one way ticket to heartbreak and a severe loss of pride.
15. Be careful with Devin. He's not really as great as he seems, and he's going to break up with you at the end of the summer before college. Many sad months will ensue if you get too attached. And you weren't in love either, not even close.
Advice to Brittany, age 17.
16. Enjoy warped tour, don't let him ruin it. Have fun with Jason and Evan.
17. Don't let that stupid boy ruin the first half of your senior year. Not getting over him won't bring him back, and you'll eventually see that this is a good thing.
18. Don't bother working at Papa Johns.
19. Graduation day will be one of the best days ever.
20. Beach Week will be incredible, do everything that you want to do and take millions of pictures.
21. Orientation at college will be a lot more fun if you are more outgoing. Go to the CHHS advising session, you'll meet Dani and Selden there; they'll end up being important people freshman year.
Advice to Brittany, age 18:
22. Enjoy the time you have with your best friends before things change when you go to college.
23. Grant is a shithead. Seriously don't even bother getting involved. If you do, understand that he's not in it for a relationship, and he's not over his ex. And he was doing stuff with Dani simultaneously. Classy right?
24. Please don't transfer away from GM.
25. Make sure you go to Samim's birthday party. But don't bother dancing with Andrew; he's an awful dancer and not even a little bit cute.
26. Make sure you start that co-ed flag football team. You'll meet a lot of great people through this. I promise.
27. Go to as many footballs games as you can with Dad, you'll be happy you did.
28. Make sure to call Nana and Papa at least once a week.
29. Avoid Jason, he's a creeper. But his roommate happens to be the love of your life.
30. Don't over think things with Mark, everything turns out to be just fine.
31. There will be drama at Christmas Dinner if you do the quote game. Be careful, and remember that Kelye is easily offended.
32. Keep in touch with your high school best friends; Hannah, Erin, Caroline, and Alyssa as much as possible.
