Advice to myself when I was 17:
1. Listen to your friend from Florida. He cares about you, and knows a lot about how to love your parents.
2. Don't let your parents get you down about the internet relationship. Stand up for yourself when they are making fun of it.
3. Stop watching Magnolia. It depresses you. There are better movies (but Aimee Mann is good.)
4. Don't worry so much about what's cliche in your writing. If you feel something, it is true.
5. Get off the tennis team. It's making you a miserable, and there are sports you could be enjoying more.
6. Don't worry so much about high school. You're not that interested. Just get by, and study things that are really important to you -- you'll get more done and feel more accomplished.
7. Be sensitive to what your best friend needs from you, and stop messing around with your commitments to him. He trusts you.
