A.T. at age 38 gives....
* Advice to A.T. at age 12:
- Don't worry about the way you look, don't worry about the clothes and shoes Ma buys you. The people that tease you about it aren't worth your concern.
- Please recognize the sacrifices that Ma and Pop made for you and your brother.
- J.U. will pretend she doesn't know you at your first dance even though she invited you. You are going to get hurt a lot, please start getting used to it now.
* Advice to A.T. at age 22:
- You really do love J.B. but nothing you do will make it work. Instead of wasting all your energy on that futile relationship, you should be focusing on your studies.
* Advice to A.T. at age 23:
- You are a slacker now, but you should have chilled out like this 5 years earlier.
- Don't over do it with the running. Join a running group and follow a sane training program. Consider cycling.
- You will think that every girl you have a relationship with is out to hurt you. They are not. You are the one who is allowing yourself to get hurt because your expectations are not realistic.
* Advice to A.T. at age 25:
- You did great. You got into grad school, but it is too hard for you to handle alone. Find some people to study with.
- M.G. didn't really mean it when she said she was "indifferent" to you and that you mean nothing to her. You didn't have to walk for hours in the cold that night. She was having hard time too. Please realize that you aren't the only one who has problems.
- The end of this year was really bad. I'm glad you got some help with the depression. I can't give you any advice about that, you are lucky to have made it through.
