Advice to myself age 16:
1. Focus more on going to college. Don t just float into it while not caring about what you are doing. Make connections and stick with them.
2. Get the fuck out of here. Travel more, move somewhere else. Florida might be great for a lot of people, but you ll spend the next 15 years dreaming of being elsewhere. Just get up and leave to find the place where you really want to be. Just do it. now!
3. Take more risks with your life. You are smarter and more creative than you think and can have the career that you want. you just have to make it happen. You are better looking than you think and can date the girls that you want to date. Don t take the next 10 years to realize that.
4. There is a girl named Meaghen that you will meet when you re about 19. She ll break your heart. I would tell you to avoid her, but you ll learn a lot about life, love and your limits. Just know going into it that it s going to get messy and you ll both regret it the long run.
5. Stop thinking about the past. It s only filled with regret as it is now. Do what you want and focus on the future. there s more ahead than there is behind.
6. Learn a foreign language. You ll tell yourself a thousand times that you will do it, but you won t have the time or motivation.
7. Make more of an effort to keep long term friends. You need to cultivate and nurture relationships to make them last.
