When I am dead, I do not want fanfare. I want to be cremated and I do not want to end up in a cemetary with a grave marker. I do not think I need to take up extraneous space after I am gone. I don't really want a funeral, but if someone insists, I don't really care. I wouldn't mind a wake - people need something where they can say goodbye, get closure, all that stuff. Or so I hear. I'm not like that. But if people feel that's necessary, then fine. I don't want a 'viewing of my body' after I am gone. I don't want people to stare at me when I can no longer stare back. I guess I don't really care what happens to my ashes after I am cremated, except that I think it's a little hokey to spread ashes in a lake or river or ocean or let ashes loose in the wind. I wouldn't mind being dumped in a garden though, like fertilizer. Yes I think that is what I'd like - for my ashes to be put to some good use.
I go back and forth on the whole 'donate my body to science' thing. I hear horror stories about people who donate their bodies and then they get used for cometic surgery research instead of things like organ donations. You can't control what happens after you die.
