When I die I don t want to have a big, fancy, traditional funeral service. I want my parents or my husband or whoever to take my body and (after doing whatever medical things are necessary so I don t immediately decompose and stink up the place) hold an informal open-casket wake. I want everyone to see that I really am dead and to try to let go of their fears about death. I want there to be lots of flowers to remind everyone of the cyclical nature of death and birth and life. I want them to not be too sad and for them to spend a lot of time laughing. Then, when my loved ones are ready, I want to be cremated. I want my ashes to be scattered out over the beach near my home. I want to be returned to the ocean and allowed to go back to my spiritual home.
