When I die, I would like to be cremated. I would like my ashes scattered all around the world at my favorite places. Cannon Beach, Oregon. The East Village of New York City. The sidewalk in front of Powell's bookstore in Portland, Oregon. The Christian Science Center in Boston. And places I have yet to visit. If I have yet to visit Africa, Italy and Costa Rica, I would like some ashes scattered there as well.
Instead of a wake or a funeral, I would prefer all of my family, friends and loved ones to gather at a fun restaurant, eat, drink and discuss their favorite stories about me. I don't want people sitting around in a funeral home, staring at a coffin or a body, mourning. I want them to think about who I was to them and the joy I brought them.
