Mother: What are you writing about?
Daughter: Nothing, I'm just trying to do my homework. It's not interesting, it's about archival procedures.
Mother: Oh, that sounds interesting! Tell me about it.
Daughter: I can't stop to tell you about my homework right now, mother. I have to finish this before I go to class tonight at six....which is in less than an hour so.....
Mother: I'm just trying to make conversation with you. I haven't seen you all day today. You don't have to be so cruel, I love you.
Daughter: I'M NOT BEING CRUEL! Look I'm just trying to do my homework. Don't YOU have anything to do? The house is a mess, the laundry is pilled a mile high, I know you have a list of errands to run....so why don't you just go and run them?
Mother: You shouldn't talk to me like that, I'm your mother. I've spent my whole life loving you; you can't treat me like this.
Daughter: Since when did me trying to do my homework in between running from work, to school, to the museum, become an act of cruelty? I'm just trying to get my shit done and taken care of and you keep coming up to me and trying to chit chat and I HAVE SHIT TO DO! I'm on a tight schedule here, I'm sorry I can't stop to hang out with you. You need to realize I am an adult and I'm not here to entertain you.....Okay?
Mother: I don't know how you can feel good about yourself talking to your mother like that...
Daughter: Stop right there....I'm just trying to do my homework. We have this same argument almost everyday, when are you going to get it? I'm busy. I don't have time to talk you whenever it's convenient for YOU. I've got things to do, when I have time to talk to you, I'll talk to you. When are you going to get it! For God's sake mother, you need to find a way to occupy your time, your kids don't need you to take care of them anymore. You need to get a life.
Mother: You are so cruel.
