My sister and I went to the public pool in the town of Oregon where my grandmother lived, and after swimming around a bit, I joined Lisa by the side of the pool and we lay on our backs on bath towels. This tall, cute guy walked up and stood over me. "Hey," he said. I smiled and shielded my eyes from the sun. He loomed over me, a dripping silhouette. "Hi!" I said. "Guess what?" "What?" I was sure he would ask me to play water volleyball or something. "Your bathing suit's see-through." I could feel myself shrinking, shriveling. I looked down. He was right. My bathing suit was see-through.
